big stammering day out

i'm getting a bit slack with my blogs. it's 'cos i'm being a media whore, and working my way up to being a media pimp.

tomorrow is a big stammering day out in dublin. lots of people like me will get together and stammer together. probably not at the same time as the building might fall down.

i've been ringing the newspapers, tv and radio - and some of them have been very interested in us. isn't that good?

almost famous

i know that in some circles i am famous, and even infamous.

but today i was nealy on RTE's daytime entertainment programme 'the afternoon show'.

"nearly, jonny fun?" ask the kids on the street "what does that mean?"

well kids, that means that a nice lady rang me at 12.15pm today asking if i could go on the show and talk about stuttering! not being a regular viewer of 'tas' i assumed it was on radio, which naturally - being a man of the world and great integrity - i have done before. piece of piss.

i was then informed that rehearsals were at 2pm, which really freaked me out. 'cos it meant it'd be on tv, and live. gah!

anyway i said i'd ring them back - no need to look desperate at times like this. i had to get 'media clearance' from my work, and i also had to think about it 'cos i wasn't at all prepared.

it turned out that when i rang back, nineteen seconds later (to say i couldn't make it today), they were postponing the show. they said they might want me to do it in future though and...

they'd call me back.

i'll let you know what happens - i may get to meet a nolan sister!

tír na nÓg tv

continuing on a theme...

the only tv channel i could find showing any elvis films on saturday was TG4 (tír na nÓg tv to all you turas teanga officionados out there). i thought that was a poor show by the other stations. shame on you.

disappointingly, TG4 had not dubbed elvis 'os gaeilge' - that would've been class. i may set this as an unlikely lifetime ambition for myself.

sunday was marginally better, i caught bits of 'viva las vegas' and 'this is elvis'. 'this is elvis' is a bit sad at the end, 'cos he's both half the man and twice the man he used to be, at the same time.
